I am Lilliana Carrillo a junior at Roosevelt! I was at Elgin
Community College for two years and earned my associates of arts degree. I love helping others and especially
children. I am also very patient and a great listener. These traits are the reason
why I chose to major in elementary education.
I love teaching children new topics, ideas, and concepts they are not
familiar with. When I see their faces with a huge smile because of the new
concepts they are learning, it just make my day. The most beautiful part about
teaching children is the moment when a child understands a concept he or she
was having trouble understanding. On a different note, I am very excited about
LIBS 201. I think LIBS 201 will help me become a better writer. I learned a lot
from taking English 101 and 102, and I know LIBS 201 will help me learn news
concepts that will help me become a better writer. I do not consider myself a horrible
or excellent writer. I think am an average writer that is excited to learn new
material to improve as a writer. I also love reading because I learn new
concepts when reading different books. Writing and reading are very important
for my upcoming career. As a teacher, I have to love reading and writing and
mostly to find ways to encourage my students to read and write. As of right now,
I really want to work on placing commas in the correct place, citing, and
researching. I know this class will definitely help me improve on all of these
things and help me become a better writer.
Nice to meet you, Lillian! I'm excited that you are studying to be a teacher and that reading and writing already seem to be so important to you! I'll be interested in hearing what your thoughts are about Jean Anyon an the different types of schools when we get to that section of the course. Indeed, I wonder what your own thoughts and experiences might be with issues of educational inequality -- and to hear what role you think schools might play in social transformation.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry! It's Lilliana, not just Lillian. (That "a" makes a world of difference!)
